Title: Know Your Weak Spot

Thurs. 03
April, 2025

Luke 14:31-32, “If a king is going to fight another king, first he will sit down and plan. He will decide if he and his ten thousand soldiers can defeat the other king who has twenty thousand soldiers. If he can’t, then while the other king is still far away, he will send some people to speak to him and ask for peace.” (NCV)

The ART of war will be incomplete, one-sided, lame, useless and not objective if it doesn’t include a smart comparative analysis of your own strengths and weaknesses, compared to that of your FOE or enemy. And since your strength is good and an advantage in this quest, can I sincerely ask you, do you know your weaknesses? Many people only focus on their strengths, advantages or edge over their enemies, competitors or contemporaries without thinking much of their Achilles’ heel.

Dear friend, if there is anything for which scientists deserves a loud ovation and commendation, it is the unending research into the human nature or PSYCHOLOGY. This ongoing research has been able to unearth many truths, facts and fads alike. However, an ominous discovery is that, the greater percentage of humans have a similar weakness which is been associated as a factory error since it affects the majority of us. And this factory or manufacturer error seems to be so deep-seated and inherent in us all such that, we find it more convenient to deny rather accept its existence.

Beloved, this general WEAKNESS in us is lack of CONTENTMENT. Though God put this desire for more in us so we could always ASPIRE for more, pursue and accomplish, until we become all He had designed and destined us for. However, just as it happened in the garden of Eden, satan has always succeeded in EXPLOITING this as a weakness, to lure us into the sin of COVERTOUSNESS. What is this? It is wanting, desiring or craving for something or more of something, even when you know it’s not God’s will or right

I believe this is why Paul the Apostle CAUTIONED in 1 Timothy 6;8 that, “as long as we have food and clothes, we should be satisfied.” (GodsWord) Wow! Why? Because, where there is CONSTANT contentment or satisfaction, temptation is weak. Why? Because, you are never under any pressure whether peer, environmental or societal. And at this MATURED level, only very few enticing lies, deceit and confusion from the pit of hell can tempt not to talk of leading you into sin or fall.

Beloved, the NLT version says, “so if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.” Do you notice that, being satisfied or content is your CHOICE? Do not be deceived, this is your weak spot; the desire or quest for more. And all your enemies, spirits and humans know this. And this was the HOOK that Satan used for Eve. And till date, that is the most successful hook used by satan to lure us into sin and even FRAUDSTERS to empty greedy people’s accounts.

Dear child of God, you are not HELPLESS. So, please, be guided by KNOWING the word of God and His will for you. So that, when the tempter, whether Satan and his spirit host or his human agents, even fruadsters come visiting you (they will always come), you can simply overcome by saying “no!” Or haven’t you wondered how people fall prey to sins of immorality, stealing, gambling, betting and even drunkenness? It’s always rooted in the lack of contentment – the insatiable desire or INORDINATE quest for MORE. Peace!
