Luke 1:38, Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.”
Many times we become so used to and mastered by our manners, habits, behavior and character such that, we become so helpless to them. This makes us to extend these even to our relationship with God. Do you know or realize that, if you’re stubborn, arrogant, selfish or proud etc, and you refuse to change, soon enough, you will unconsciously extend these characters to God. This is why making effort and taking responsibility to change yourself through the available grace of God is very important.
Dear friend, are you MANIPULATIVE or you automatically seek only your own good or interest? You may well feel you are being SMART. However, the danger in this is that, though, some of your contacts may have no choice than to continue relating with you. However, you will start using and manipulating God also. Please, read that again and see how gross it sounds. This is the focus of today’s nugget; are you pursuing and submitting to the fulfillment of your own will or that of God?
Beloved, like the Bible showed us the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 17:1.
“And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” Many people read this passage so fast that they miss the main MEAT of that scripture. The main revelation in that scripture is the statement, “BEFORE WHOM I STAND,” That statement indicates communion and fellowship with God; a season of talking with and listening to God and not just placing demands of PERSONAL wants or needs.
If you missed that, you have missed the essence of that scripture. Elijah was in the presence of God. So, his action of closing the heaven MUST have been an instruction from God or a DESIRE or decision he had CLARIFIED or run through Jehovah God and received an approval. So, what he did wasn’t just a reckless show off or use of the power and authority of God on his life. Dear friend can I ask you this, have you run that desire or decision through God before declaring it and INSISTING it must come to pass or happen? Do you remember Matthew 6:10 says, Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.?”
Dear child of God, a genuine and MATURING believer, you can’t and shouldn’t just be insisting on your will, desire or decision without first running them through God and confirming that it is His will or not. This is why our prayers and declarations seem lame, impotent and powerless. Look at today’s scripture, Mary submitted to God’s word and will. You need to also learn to submit to God’s word and will. This is only the time you will truly overcome the lifetime long conflict between your will and His will. If it’s your will and not His will, there is no guarantee of divine back up for PERFORMANCE. But when it’s His will, the stress of performance is off you. Hallelujah!
